Shelley Albert, Policy Analyst and Governance Expert:
Ms. Albert's years of experience in governance roles span a number of industries including finance, healthcare, and politics. She was the Assistant Manager of Corporate Governance at one of Canada's leading financial institutions and the Corporate Secretary at Canada's premier innovator in addiction recovery. Ms. Albert who is also a policy analyst, analyzes federal and provincial legislation. She has presented her findings to various committees including one of Canada's federal parliamentary committees. Prior to a career in governance, Ms. Albert ran a successful exporting business and was an advisor in property and casualty insurance. She is a graduate of York University with degrees in Business, Policy Analysis, and Public Administration.
Scott Smith, Human Resources Expert:
Having spent 25 plus years honing his skills as a Human Resources Executive with best-in-class companies in the engineering, people management, and automobile sectors, Mr. Smith launched his own human resources solutions company with the aim of helping business leaders build profitable and sustainable enterprises through the development and implementation of effective people strategies. His areas of expertise include: change management, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, and mergers & acquisitions. Mr. Smith is a graduate of McMaster University with degrees in Economics and Labour Relations. He has completed the Advanced Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School; the Canadian Securities Course; and attended the Directors College through the DeGroote School of Business studying corporate governance and executive compensation.
Paul Taylor, Finance Expert:
Mr. Taylor is the Chief Investment Officer at BMO GAM (Canada) Multi-Asset. He oversees asset allocation both from a strategic and tactical perspective for the firm’s multi-asset class strategies, in addition to being a member of its leadership team. He has 25 years of investment industry experience, 14 of which have been with BMO Financial Group. Previously, he was CIO at BMO Harris for eight years and CIO, Canadian Equities at BMO GAM Canada for two years. Prior to that, he was the President and CIO of a large asset management division of one of Canada’s leading independent asset management firms. Paul earned his Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario and his MBA from Queen’s University. He is a CFA charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute and the Toronto CFA Society. He is a frequent contributor to BNN, CBC, CNBC and multiple print journals.
Danny Titolo, Legal Expert:
Mr. Titolo is legal counsel currently practising corporate and commercial law with an international financial institution. He advises on various legal and regulatory compliance matters in areas such as consumer protection, payment products, debt collection, advertising, insurance, cross-border, privacy and anti-spam. Mr. Titolo also practised securities law and acted as legal counsel for one of Canada’s largest asset managers. He was responsible for voting at public company meetings on behalf of shareholders in a multi-billion dollar investment portfolio, as well as advised on various corporate governance and investment management issues. Mr. Titolo earned his law degree at Osgoode Hall Law School and obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in life sciences from the University of Toronto. He is also a published author in both the scientific and legal literature.
Adam Topp, Governance Expert:
Mr. Topp is currently Director of Health Transformation for the Government of Manitoba and partner in a successful healthcare consulting and benchmarking firm. He is a former Senior Associate Consultant with Hay Group Healthcare Consulting and the former Chief Operating Officer at Winnipeg Health Regional Authority. He was Vice President Clinical Operations at Sunnybrook & Women’s College Health Sciences Centre. Prior to that, he served as Vice President Corporate Performance & Chief Financial Officer at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He was also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada (HIROC). Mr. Topp holds a BASc. and an MBA in Health Services Management and Marketing from McMaster University.
